Whatever the time of year, some of the greatest natural attractions are just off the backyard of The Sunset Hill House.

Hit the slopes on many of the Northeast’s top ski destinations including Cannon Mountain (recently rated #8 place to ski in the Northeast) just 6.4 miles away and Bretton Woods just 21.5 miles away. If you prefer Nordic skiing, Ski Hearth Farm is located just 4.2 miles away.

In the warmer months, the area is home to many famous mountain hikes, including the Franconia Ridge trail, The Haystacks, Lonesome Lake and Mount Lafayette.  Ride the cable car up Cannon Mountain, enjoy a scenic mountain drive on the Mount Washington Auto Road or Kancamagus highway, take the Cog Railway or drive to the top of Mount Washington and experience the view from New England’s highest peak (bumper sticker not included), kayak at Echo Lake State Park, or explore the Flume Gorge, the Basin and Echo Lake State Park.

If you need a break from the great outdoors, take a quiet stroll down to the quaint village of Sugar Hill. While there, sample some of New Hampshire’s goodies at Harman’s Cheese Shop. Just a short ride away, you can walk the picturesque Main Street of Littleton. Lined with cute boutiques, Main Street is also home to Chutters –famous for the world’s longest candy counter. Others can choose to sample some of the local brews at Iron Furnace Brewery, Schilling Beer Co., and Rek-lis Brewing Company - three of the breweries on New Hampshire’s Brew Trail.
